OUT OF SCRATCHCREATING DATASETS
I have been fascinated by the beaches and oceans my entire life. There has never been a dull moment whenever I visited a beach. I have always appreciated it, however my fascination for beaches increased tenfold during the lockdown. So, for the dissertation I started off by listing down a geneal comparison between oceans and humans.
The main idea was to showcase my emotional range/scale over the years when core memories were made using wave mapping as a mode of Data Visualisation. Waves can be recorded and predicted by experts through a mapping system similar to contours and cyclone mapping systems. I want to convey my emotions through such a system by linking my love for beaches as a metaphor. I wanted the project to be on a personal level, and at the same time be detailed. No one knows me better than I do , and neither does anyone know how I felt when I experienced different core memories in my life. The project felt like the perfect topic to dive into my own life and convey to the audience my experiences throughout my life.
While thinking about the concept of the project, I felt that conveying my own experiences and mapping it out might be a good idea, but it could be even better. I felt that this would be the perfect oppourtunity to know my best friends even better. A wave mapping system that compares and maps out each core memory including me and my best friends would be a much better idea. It would compare all of our emotional ranges throughout our life and at the same time help me get to know myself and my friends better.
